Delhi saw heavy rains Sunday morning that caused waterlogging and slowed down traffic in some areas

Delhi saw heavy rains Sunday morning that caused waterlogging and slowed down traffic in some areas. The downpour is likely to continue throughout the day, the weatherman said.

"There may be one or two spells of heavy rains in some areas," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The national capital received 17.3 mm of rainfall from Saturday morning till 8.30 a.m. Sunday.

The showers led to waterlogging under the Kashmere Gate flyover, slowing down traffic movement.

"Being a weekend, there was not much traffic congestion reported. However, if rains continue, vehicular movement is likely to get affected," a traffic police official told IANS.

The minimum temperature recorded was 24.8 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.

According to the Met office, the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 32 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity was recorded at 95 percent and the minimum was 81 percent.

Delhi has recorded a total rainfall of 840.8 mm this season, 44 percent above average.
