Actress says her messages for fans on Facebook urging a ban on plastic not an attempt to create a springboard for political plunge
Pretty Ramya is at it again. After using popular networking site Facebook to motivate fans to donate their eyes on the eve of her birthday, she is now using the site to convince people to ban plastic in the New Year.
The Facebook post says, 'Resolution for 2010: No Plastic'u00a0-- "I Hope u guys all make the same resolution, so we can motivate each other through the year. Lets make it happen."
The post has attracted over a hundred responses since she put it up on Tuesday.
Abhishek, one of the fans, said, "Ramya inspires us not only as a star but as a youth icon and a leader of tomorrow. She has tremendous ideas for the development of the society."
Analysts suspect that like other south Indian actors, Ramya too wants to jump into politics.
"Ramya is an aspiring politician and everyone knows that she vied for a Congress ticket to contest parliamentary polls from Mandya," said Vageeshkuamar G A, a senior TV journalist. "I think she is slowly building up her base and Facebook has come handy for her. Earlier this month, when she celebrated her birthday, she had appealed her fans to participate in eye donation conducted by Dr Bhujanga Shetty of Narayana Netralaya, through Facebook and legions of fans had responded positively."
Ramya, admitted that she was interested in politics.
"I am interested in politics but that does not mean that every move of mine should be read as an attempt to gain political mileage. If at all I have to reach out to voters, Facebook is not the way to do it. I merely want to motivate people towards social commitments and environmental issues. I spoke on it because climate change was a topic of heated discussion in the last few days," Ramya said.
