We are in the middle of monsoon but the Praharis, sophisticated vehicles bought to carry out rain-related operations, are lying idle because the chief minister doesn't have time to inaugurate them.
"We have Praharis that are yet to be flagged off," said a BBMP source.
Thanks to B S Yeddyurappa's hectic schedule, the 10 new vehicles have been standing at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) premises for over a month.
More sophisticated than the 11 inducted in 2002, they have not been out on the road this monsoon despite several areas reeling under the heavy showers.
"We can't perform unless we get these vehicles on the roads," sources said. "We are not in a position to use them despite the heavy rains. We are managing with old vehicles, which are not enough to handle complaints from all eight zones."

"We are attending to complaints using the old Praharis," said Dr S Khandre, public relations officer, BBMP, adding that they hope to start operations this week. Once the CM flags them off.
