Koramangala has a spanking new friendly neighbourhood pub where booze and munchies come cheap and bonding is cozy
I heard about this new watering hole from a launch invite lying on my desk calling allu00a0city socialites and had it at the back of my mind to give it a shot sometime soon. We hopped over for a quick pint with work buddies on a midweek night and we're glad we did.
It was a hard day's night and we decided to give B 52 a go, to unwind over a drink. Bang in the centre of the IT sector of the bustling Koramangala, B52 is a big draw for techies around the area. The owners couldn't have been more lucid in naming the pub B 52, straight from the address of the joint, which is 52/b, Koramangala.
Black leather couches dominate the place with wooden flooring, a mix of dim and neon lights and glass for added drama. All good view tables were taken as our nation's favourite game was being watched by yumpies with loads of cheering, both on screen and in the pub. But that didn't dissuade us and we scouted around and squeezed in. Hopped on the bar stools and asked for our menu cards.
My work buddy didn't want to go experimental and ordered a Bacardi with coke (Rs 150). I flipped straight to the cocktails section and took a fancy to the refreshing names like T Bird, Side Car, Blue Hawaiian, Mulata, Scorpion and Gentle Ben. I hit the G. Spot (Rs 250) which was a spicy cocktail made from gin, green chilly, lime juice, Tabasco and peach lemonade. The G Spot gave me just the kick I was craving for. There's also a wide selection of single malts, wines, vodka and whiskey. A Kingfisher pint is up for grabs at Rs 120, but my teammate preferred a Carlsberg (Rs 150).
Satiate your appetite with Chinese and Mughlai starters like Dragon Spring Rolls, both vegetarian and non vegetarian options (Rs 170) or Chicken Tikka (Rs 175), char grilled boneless slices of chicken legs, which were just right and filling enough for two people. Vegetarians might also like to sample the Threaded Baby Corn (Rs 150), which is quite a delight with Cajun spice marinated baby corns wrapped with threaded wonton sheets and served with hot garlic sauce.
We recommend the B 52 Platter (Rs 225), a wholesome platter for two with chicken wings; breaded mushroom, paprika potato wedges and batter fried prawns. The Buffalo wings had the right amount of spice and tang and the mushrooms and prawns were juicy and succulent too.
B 52 is bang on with its liquor concoctions and munchies to go along with them. Still, we hope the management pulls up its socks to do a wee bit more to the food department to entice foodies away from the scores of options that this part of town gives them just lanes away.
