US-based Allergan Inc on Wednesday announced the launch of its anaesthetic dermal filler 'Juvederm XC', used to correct facial imperfections, in the country
Now you too can look like a million bucks, and thankfully, through a painless process. Allergan India launched its next generation Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler formulation Juvederm XC (XC stands for Extra Comfort) in the country. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Juvederm is the first and only smooth-consistency HA dermal filler, which while applying to your skin, will cause no pain.

Socialites and dermatologists have given it a thumbs-up. "We always had to follow the rule 'no pain no gain'. If I have to go for such treatment, I'll be happy choosing a procedure that involves no pain," said socialite Tanisha Mohan. "Though I have never used such a therapy, it will be a great step for those who opt for it," said Ameeta Seth, a socialite.
Even dermatologists say that clients used to back out of such procedures due to the agony involved. "Fifty per cent of people inclined towards fillers could not go for it due to the pain. Now, they can easily go for the treatment. It's not very time consuming and will hardly take five minutes," said Dr Jamuna Pai, cosmetic physician, Blush Clinics.
However, experts are divided about the acceptability of the product. "Delhi has yet to open to such treatments. People still are a little conservative here," added Dr Pai. "Delhi is a fashion conscious city. People will accept the product soon. We have performed botox treatment even on babies," said Dr Swati Srivastava, Head, Dermatology, VLCC.
How does it work?
The Juvederm XC gel is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe wrinkles and folds occur (most often around the nose and mouth). The injected gel adds volume and makes the face look smoother.
