They had committed the crime at the behest of victim's wife
The Delhi police on Tuesday arrested two persons for the murder of a restaurant owner in Zakheera area of Moti Nagar last month. Acting on a tip-off that two murdered accused would come to Saket court to meet an advocate, a police team reached the spot and apprehended them when they were going towards the court.
"They were identified as Sunil (32) and Subhash (40), both resident of Zakheera," said a police official.
"During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to steal mobile phones, cash and other valuables from the passers-by and had also gone to jail many times for their criminal activities. Both of them regularly used to indulge in drinking for which they used to visit restaurant of the deceased Shivji Sharma, who also used to sell liquor" said Chhaya Sharma, DCP South.
She added, "They became friendly with Shivji's wife Kalawati, who used to serve liquor to the patrons. Over a period of time the duo came close to Kalawati and even used to touch and fondle her whenever they would get a chance. One day Shivji noticed their activities and scolded his wife for this.
Later, Kalawati told the accused that her husband had forbidden her from serving liquor to them but as she liked both of them, she wanted they should eliminate her husband. All the three then hatched a plan and on April 25 both reached the restaurant and began to drink liquor and also started touching her. On this, she shouted and her husband came to her rescue but they pushed him out and stabbed him." Shivji later died during the course of treatment.
