Road rage: Duo claiming to be Gambhir's relatives thrash man

Raghav Gambhir, claiming to be a cousin of the cricketer, allegedly beat up Jaspal Singh, a taxi driver working with a call centre, and fled along with his friend, who is yet to be identified.


In a case of road rage incident, two men claiming to be cricketer Gautam Gambhir's relatives allegedly beat up a man in central Delhi and flaunted their connection when cops intervened them, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at Pusa road around 1 a.m. near Karol Bagh Metro station.

Raghav Gambhir, claiming to be a cousin of the cricketer, allegedly beat up Jaspal Singh, a taxi driver working with a call centre, and fled along with his friend, who is yet to be identified.


Gautam Gambhir's relatives were allegedly involved in an incident of road rage.

Police have registered a case of attempt to culpable homicide. Policemen Anand and Vikram, who were manning a police picket near the hospital, had rushed to the spot after they were told by a car driver that two men were beating up someone. "The constables rushed to the spot and found two men beating up another man. They were yelling at him how he dared to hit their vehicle. They were also saying that will not leave him alive."u00a0

"When the constables intervened, one of them told the personnel that he was Raghav Gambhir and is the cousin of the cricketer (Gautam). The elder among them also told police that 'my son Gambhir is very powerful'," a senior police official said. u00a0

According to the official, the duo fled from the spot in their car while the policemen were trying to take the victim to a nearby hospital.u00a0

Police have registered an case of attempt to commit culpable homicide, threat and common intention.

The cab driver was returning home when his car grazed Raghav's car.u00a0Raghav got angry over this and started beating the victim along with his friend after dragging him out of his car.u00a0Singh is undergoing treatment, said the official.u00a0

No arrests have been made so far.u00a0
