Senior Supreme Court lawyer Rohinton Nariman was appointed the Solicitor General of India on SaturdayAccording to an official notification by the Law Ministry, Nariman will assume charge on Monday and represent the government in all important cases. Nariman, 55, is the son of eminent jurist Fali S Nariman and succeeds Gopal Subramanium who recently resigned in the wake of a controversy.
Nariman, who did his Master's in law from Harvard University, is known for phenomenal memory and holding a firm position in court. His appointment comes 15 days after Subramanium quit saying, "I resigned only to protect the dignity of the office."
