In her latest exhibition, Kolkata-based artist Eleena Banik questions the sadism against women, leaving you grappling with answers
Violence against women, whether social, mental physical or domestic, has been prevalent in our country since centuries. Now, as we adopt different methods to tackle it, the exhibition His/Her story, which opens tomorrow, encompasses a story around the same. We delve deeper.
>>Get the message? "I wish to show that art doesn't always have to be beautiful and positive. Being a woman myself, I deeply condemn violence against women in any form. My paintings are a stark representation of what is happening around us, and conveys the message that society needs to change as a whole if we have to tackle this problem. In a nutshell, it follows the theme my voice against violence as a woman," signs off the artist.
