The ongoing assault on the ears of residents of Vikas Nagar in Wanowrie may end soon. Taking serious note of a report published in MiD DAY on July 4 (âLocals cry foul at noisyu00a0banquet hall in SRPF headquarters'), the commandant of SRPF, Sanjay Jadhav, recently met the inhabitants and assured them that fresh rules would be framed to tackle the issueand ensure that they are not inconvenienced by the frequent functions taking place at Aalankaran hall and the adjoining lawn. The residents, however, maintain that they would wait and see whether these commitments are fulfilled, and if theyaren't, they would organise an agitation against the menace.
People in the neighbourhood have pointed out that the area is a silent zone because of the presence of a charitable trust hospital and a school in the vicinity. MiD DAY had also drawn attention towards the threat to security posed by the wedding parties that enter the hall through the main entrance of the SRPF's nerve centre.
"Jadhav assured us that hereafter processions and loud music would not be allowed in the adjacent area of the marriage hall and lawn. He also promised that the new rules would be created under which no parking would be allowed on the roadside," said Kishor Baligar, a Vikas nagar resident.

Locals said that two wedding functions were held at Alankaran lawn after their meeting with the SRPF representatives. However, the officials did not allow the baratis to burst firecrackers and play loud music.
"The authorities have instated no-parking boards in the area, where previously vehicles were being left with impunity. The SRPF officials told us that they had also discussed this matter with police officials of zone IV for necessary corrective
measures in this regard," said Vikas Bhanusghare, another resident.
Locals, however, claimed that police authorities couldn't give a satisfactory answer to why the wedding hall and lawn were being rented out to civilians. When MiD DAY contacted Sanjay Jadhav, he refused to comment on the issue. u00a0
