The accused has been absconding after allegedly taking bulk sarees from the dealer andu00a0 giving post-dated cheques, which bounced because of insufficient balance.

Kishan Lal, proprietor, said, "Mangilal, has been a customer for the past seven years, and had never cheated me before. I had trusted him and over the past two months, gave him art silk sarees in bulk, for which, he had deposited post-dated cheques with me.

When I deposited them, I found that he had put a stop payment on them. When we went to look for him, he had shut down his shop and vacated the house."

Mangilal has been absconding since Sunday. Kishan added that the accused had cheated a number of other shopkeepers in the vicinity, amounting to a total of Rs 9 crore. The others are yet to file a complaint.
