Sassoon hospital gets Rs 5.50 cr

The medical education department is trying to get the allotted fund of Rs 5.50 crore to get cathlab machinery for Sassoon hospital and other related works.


The information shared by Additional Medical Education department Chief Secretary Anand Kulkarni during his visit to the Sassoon General Hospital and the BJ Medical College yesterday. Besides, the department also plans to secure extra FSI to have a cancer institute and BJ Medical research institute on the hospital premises.

"Before completing the new building, we are focusing on hospital's repair works and other necessary works. The government has allotted Rs 5.5 crore, which will help us get new machinery for the cathlab. There is a possibility of getting another Rs 2.5, which can be utilised for the central oxygen line.

Surgical ICU, Medical ICU and Trauma Unit. Renovation of these departments is in the process," Kulkarni said, additional chief secretary, medical education.

Medical Superintendent of the Sassoon hospital Dipak G Kulknarni said, "Additional chief secretary is visiting medical colleges and hospitals in state to get an idea of the various problems faced by them."

Ananad Kulkarni's meeting with officials of college and hospital also focused on setting up a research institute. "There is no research institute at the government-run hospital and medical colleges. We are trying to get more FSI for the college so that a cancer and a medical and research institute can be started. We are also seeking the land to set up a Dental and Physiotherapy College," Anand Kulkarni said.u00a0

Cleanliness Drive
To tackle cleanliness issues at Sassoon hospital, the state plans to take special efforts with the help of class IV employees. Commenting on the issue, Anand Kulkarni said, "Considering the apathy for cleanliness, we will be carrying out a special drive or a sustainable drive with class IV workers."u00a0
