News of financial fraud by chairman Raju sends shock waves

The resignation of Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju, after he admitted to a financial fraud, has shocked employees in Satyam Computers offices in the city.u00a0 In fact, it has left the entire business world in the country shell-shocked. Sathyam has seven offices in the city with the Kumara Park office being the headquarters.

Panic-stricken employees were in no mood to work at the Kumara Park office. They were seen huddled up in
small groups outside the office discussing the issue.u00a0 They were wary of sharing their views with the media.

When MiD DAY called Satyam's Varthur office, a HR executive said nobody was authorised to talk to media on the issue. He said, "The top officials will be available tomorrow and you can talk to them."

'Not a surprise'
A team leader at the Hebbal office said the resignations have not 'surprised us', but the news attached to it is worrisome. He said the top management has not yet made any statement to the employees in this regard.

When asked for her reactions, Deepika, a software developer at the Kumara Park office said,u00a0 "There is panic among the employees. But daily work hasn't been affected."

Job worries

The employees are now worried about the jobs. And they hope whoever takes over the company would put things in order, she added.

Most of the employees are also worried about their financial commitments like payment of loan dues.

"The only thing we can do is to work hard. We are serving clients as usual," said an employee, while he expressed total confusion about the developments.u00a0
