To your plate at Amigo's new seafood menu
IT's not everyday that you walk into a restaurant and walk out of it almost completely satiated. And not everyday either that you enjoy every bit of the meal, despite hurrying through the courses for fear that you might not be able to get an auto once you step out at nearly midnight. But it was probably one of those rare days when everything goes perfect.

I love seafood -- including the ones that even fish-loving Bengalis generally avoid. Like
octopus, for instance. Little wonder then that I would jump at any chance to have seafood, especially in a place like Delhi, where it sometimes gets tough getting even fresh prawns from the fish market.
Not for a quiet evening
The space factor at Amigo is attractive, and the considerable distance between two tables means that you won't have the bored occupants of your neighbouring table snoop in on your conversations. But on this evening, we were among only a handful who were around.

Most youngsters who walked in, climbed up to enjoy the music belted out by the in-house DJ. So if you are looking for a quiet evening, it would definitely be a wrong idea to drop in on a weekend night. The service also could do with some improvement as orders take ages to land up on your table. The staff though is cheerful. Though they should definitely learn to add the right amount of crushed ice to a Baileys Irish cream.
Food for thought
The food makes up for all the inadequacies. I tried some Cammron grills, chargrilled prawns with hot garlic sauce. They were grilled just perfect -- a little more grilling would have completely spoilt the taste. The smoked mix seafood skievers had a mix of salmon, sole, prawn and scallops that were grilled and served with tangy hot garlic and sweet mango mint dip. The mango mint dip doesn't work, and the skievers taste pretty delicious without it. What I liked best about both the starters was that they were so soft that they just melted in my mouth.

While the fettuccine in the garlic shrimp with fettuccine was slightly sticky, the grilled Norwegian salmon with caviar mayonnaise is a must try. While it is an acquired taste for many, the salmon here is as good as it gets. Coupled with the caviar, it tastes heavenly.
The lobster-a-la-Newberg should not be given a miss either. For a different taste, give the crunchy seafood salad a shot. With salmon, sole and prawn mixed with sliced red and white cabbage, red apple and celery, this is a good option for those who want to watch their weight.
Dessert platter
The chefs here haven't created a dessert out of seafood of any kind (though I don't think I missed much there), choose from some of the regular dessert items like chocolate fondue with fruits and profit roll or a sizzling brownie with generous amounts of chocolate sauce.
