Second swine flu case in Pune

Three days after the first swine flu case was confirmed in Dr Naidu Hospital was confirmed, the second case of H1N1 virus was reported yesterday.


Three days after the first swine flu case was confirmed in Dr Naidu Hospital was confirmed, the second case of H1N1 virus was reported yesterday.

The patient returned from the USA on Wednesday morning. After complaining of the flu symptoms, he was admitted to Dr Naidu Hospital.

Dr D V Barahate refused to divulge any information about the patients. He said, "I will not be able to share many details except that he has returned from the USA on Wednesday and got himself admitted on Thursday."

The hospital authorities are trying to trace his family and friends who could have contracted the disease from him.

Barahate said, "We will get all the details by tomorrow and their blood samples will be sent for tests." The condition of the patient is stable.

The first case was confirmed on Saturday. The 24-year-old IT engineer had travelled extensively in India and abroad. He flew from Philadelphia to London and then to Mumbai. He also visited Delhi and Lucknow before returning to Pune where he is based.
