According to an official at the airport, with additional security personnel it is easier to carry out security activities. "The jawans patrol the entire premises at night. In the morning, we thoroughly check the baggage, both owned and unattended. They do not leave out a single spot. We are also inspecting vehicles that are parked for more than a couple of hours."
He further adds that overnight parking has also been stopped. "Baggage which land from the cargo are also under strict surveillance. We are keeping a track of them till they are sent to their destinations."
These measures are part of the security measures laid out by the civil aviation ministry.
Newly joined airport director, PSRK Sudhakar, said, "The time frame between January 15-26 is a sensitive period and we have to follow the security measures. Barring entry of visitors inside the premises is also one of the important measures we have taken as a part of these security measures."
