The party's local leader and ex-corporator Sadanand Shetty launched a primary member registration drive highlighting the offer and local residents flocked to his office located at 15 August chowk. The general registration campaign of the Sena is going on in the rest of the city since the past two months, but this was the first such drive conducted in ward no. 40, in cantonment area.
Though the campaign started late as compared to other areas of the city, it saw a record breaking 3,000 members sign up in one day. u00a0"We are having a very successful run here and people have shown tremendous response.u00a0The crowd didn't face any problems as we had arranged 20 booths in the area for the purpose," Shetty said.u00a0
He added that the campaign entailed going door-to-door, as people had begun crowding his office to get their laminated Id cards and caps. "We have provided Id cards to form the âSacche Shivsainik'. We have also collected member's mobile numbers and addresses, which will help in contacting them whenever the party requires," Shetty said.

An elderly member said on condition of anonymity, "We are instantly getting digital identity cards and free caps. Many from my locality are thronging the registration desk to get enrolled."
The area where the registration is taking place is a major slum and economically backward area. The lure to get an official Id card and cap of the party was strong to bring in crowds, including labourers, construction workers, rickshaw drivers and even many women turned up in large numbers at the registration desks on the road near 15 August chowk. u00a0
