After the long wait for tickets, several Bangaloreans said that it was worth the trouble. "What was very encouraging was the actors gave each other space and the celebrities in the play did not swallow the rest. It was a display of healthy team spirit," says Bijoy Venugopal (35), a writer.

u00a0"The performances of the actors were flawless. Infact, the very reason I came for the play was to catch a glimpse of the actors. But I found it a little difficult to understand the concept of the play," says Anita GS (32), copywriter.

True picture

The Blue Mug was a theatrical creation based on 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat' by Oliver Sacks.

There were no props, no fancy costumes. The highlight of the play was the power packed performance from all the actors. "An exceptional performance from Sheeba Chadha'" chorused viewers. "I perform plays as well act in movies. But, at the end of the day, theatre will remain my first love," says Sheeba Chadha.

u00a0The play was mostly based on the personal experiences of the actors. Ranvir Shorey admits, "I was able to rediscover several things during the making of this play, that was personally related to me."

"The fact that we played our own set of characters was exciting," adds Vinay Pathak who won much applause from the audience.

Great response

The director of the play Atul Kumar was overwhelmed by the response. "Bangalore is like a second home to me. I have earlier been a part of the festival hosted by Ranga Shankara and the audience here have an amazing energy," he adds. "After a long time I am performing in a play. I am glad that the crowd here is so enthusiastic and appreciative," says Konkana Sen Sharma.

The actors believe that the theatre scene in Bangalore is gaining momentum.

The play will tickle your funny bone and at the same time send a strong message that many of us may not heed that our memory is the reason for every action.
