NCP supremo Sharad Pawar was operated upon at Breach Candy hospital yesterday. After the surgery was completed, he was shifted from the OT to room no 404 of the hospital, where he is recuperating at present.
Sources confirmed that Dr Sultan Pradhan performed the surgery and is in charge of treating him.
The NCP chief, who turns 72 on Wednesday, fought a hard battle against oral cancer about a decade ago, but recovered fully.

Sources, however, confirmed that the surgery was not one related to his past ailment. A senior doctor from the hospital said, on condition of anonymity, "A small surgery was performed on him and he was admitted for the procedure. This surgery was not related to cancer."
