An alert shop keeper averted the misuse of a credit card, which was stolen from a school teacher.

Kavitha Nandi, a school teacher from Mumbai had come to Bangalore to attend her brother's funeral on January 15. Kavitha lost her purse containing a credit card, debit card, driving licence and cash of Rs 5,800.

A couple of days later, two young men who stole her purse managed to purchase goods worth Rs 7,000 and also filled fuel in their bikes for Rs 300.

Misuse of cards

On Saturday, the duo came to Kanaka Stores at Koramangala and made a purchase of Rs 32,499. While they were paying the amount through the card, the shop owner noticed that the card bore a woman's name.u00a0

The shopowner grew suspicious and started questioning the duo. Sensing danger, the duo escaped from the shop leaving the goods and the credit card. The shop owner managed to note down the motorcycle number in which they fled.u00a0

The shopowner immediately called Citibank and lodged a complaint.

The bank officials managed to track down the owner of the card and informed her about the misuse of the card. She then rushed to the store and got the card back.u00a0

Nandi later filed a complaint with the Koramangala police requesting them for a CCTV footage of the two youth in one of theu00a0 Reliance outlets, where the purchases were made before heading to Kanaka stores.
