Netizens asked friends on Facebook and Twitter to maintain calm
As cops and protestors clashed in Nizamuddin area on Wednesday, Delhiites were busy sending messages to friends through social networking sites to avoid the road and maintain peace.
Facebook user Sarah Rox wrote on her wall: "It's such a shame what we are witnessing today. A masjid was demolished in Jangpura. Mathura road is blocked from Ashram to Nizamuddin and no one knows about it. Please tell everyone who cares to pray for the safety of all."
"If you are on a train to Delhi tonight, advise not to get off at Hazrat Nizamuddin station. No transport and unsafe to walk," wrote Twitter user Abhishek Singh Also on Twitter, Nidhi Khullar wrote: "Nizamuddin mosque demolished. Please avoid South Extension, Nizamuddin, Jangpura, Lodhi Road and try and reach home ASAP!"

| Some passers-by saw huge deployment of paramilitary forces and a misconception triggered panic. Commuters thought the army had been deployed and they circulated SMSes to families and friends saying a riot had broken out. The SMSes were circulated like wildfire and created unnecessary tension in many parts of the Capital. |
