Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday extended her son Rahul Gandhi best wishes in his new role as the party chief and said he was now also her boss.

Addressing the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting here, Sonia Gandhi hoped that the party workers and leaders would work with Rahul Gandhi with the same dedication as they did with her in her long tenure of 19 years.

"We have elected a new Congress President and on your behalf and on my own, I wish him all the very best. He is now my boss, too. Let there be no doubt about that - and I know that all of you will work with him with the same dedication, loyalty and enthusiasm as you did with me," she said.

The Congress parliamentary party chairperson also said that the process of party's revival has started under Rahul Gandhi. He took over party reins in December 2017.

Referring to the party's good performance in the Gujarat Assembly polls in 2017 and Rajasthan bypolls in January, she expressed confidence at her party retaining Karnataka in the upcoming assembly election.

She also congratulated the leaders and workers for the party's performance in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

"I am confident that we will work cohesively under his leadership to revive our party's fortunes. That process has begun.

"We performed very creditably under tough circumstances in Gujarat and the just held by-election results in Rajasthan were huge. This shows that the winds of change are coming," she said.

"I am sure that very soon the election results in Karnataka too, will underline the resurgence of the Congress," she added.

Gujarat elections were held just days after Rahul Gandhi took over the party reins. Congress won 80 seats in the 182-seat assembly. Its best performance in over three decades.

In the Rajasthan bypolls, the party swept away two Lok Sabha seats in Alwar and Ajmer, and the Mandalgarh assembly seat.
