An audacious couple from United Kingdom, with a spirit of adventure, has landed onu00a0 Indian soil. As a part of their expedition of 10 countries on a bicycle, Diana Pinkett (37) and Adrian Smith (40) reached Thiruvanantha-puram on February 1.
Soon after reaching India, the duo unpacked their baggage and started their ride to different parts of India.
Pinkett and Smith, who were in Pune yesterday, told MiD DAY that their journey will take about nine months and take them to Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
"We travel on about 60 to 100 km everyday on our bicycle. The distance we cover depends upon the terrain and the road conditions. And as soon as it's dark, we pitch our make shift tents, sleep and wake up the next morning to start the next leg of our journey," said Pinkett, who has worked as a streaming media account manager for Groovy Gecko until she decided to cycle from India back to the United Kingdom.
Pinkett and Smith met in Switzerland five years ago, and have been living and traveling together ever since.
Sharing their experience in India, Smith said, "We had some fascinating experiences here like sleeping on an ant hill and being bitten by thousands of ants, to being refused in a hotel in Kerala due to some perceived terrorist threat." Smith however added that their journey has been very interesting so far.
After travelling across the length and breadth of India, the duo intends to go to Pakistan. But they are quite apprehensive about the security situation in the country.
