A 23-year-old national-level sportswoman had her leg cut off from her body after she fell from a moving train between Chenati and Bareilly railway stations, police said here today.


A 23-year-old national-level sportswoman had her leg cut off from her body after she fell from a moving train between Chenati and Bareilly railway stations, police said here today.

Sonu Sinha, a national-level football and volleyball player, fell from the Padmavat Express on Monday night while she was traveling to Delhi to appear in an examination, they said.

Sonu's left leg was amputated in the accident and she has been admitted to the district hospital, the police said.

She boarded the train from Lucknow and was traveling in the general compartment, they added.
