The cyber crime sleuths arrested a businessman from Dharwad, who became infamous in December 2010, for uploading nude videos and photos of his girlfriend on the net after she refused to continue their relationship. A cyber police team arrested Goankar, who is the kingpin of the infamous Karavali-MMS, yesterday.
The accused hails from an influential family and his father is a renowned Ayurvedic doctor. The local police could not arrest him earlier as the accused used his influence to hush up the matter.
Despite filing a complaint and summoning Goankar, the local police let him off with a warning. However, things took a turn when his the girl approached the cyber cell and filed a complaint two weeks ago seeking action against the accused.
The team led by Detective Inspector Sharath Kumar, verified emails and call details of both victim and accused before picking up Goankar. The police have confiscated the laptop and mobile phones used to upload the clip.
