Inspector Rajpal Dabas of the Special Operations Squad, which comes under the Crime Branch, has been sent to the reserve battalion with immediate effect.

Dabas has been accused of harassing and threatening a young journalist with whom he was friends till some time ago. After they fell out, Dabas allegedly started threatening the girl, who worked with a news channel. She started getting calls from Dabas and he knew with whom she was in contact.

She tried to lodge a complaint and failed. She filed an RTI and got to know that Dabas had accessed her call details several times. It was also revealed that Dabas had allegedly used the e-mail ID of an Assistant Commissioner of Police of his unit to get the call details since an officer of his rank would not have got it.

"We have ordered a divisional probe in the case and the inspector has been transferred to the reserved battalion," said a police officer.
