State asked to remain vigilant

Union home minister P Chidambaram has directed state home ministry to be on high alert in the wake of the polls.

The minister discussed security issues with Home minister V S Acharya and other officials in Bangalore.
He advised state government to equip itself, as attacks to disturb poll process can't be ruled out in state.

He also said that the centre would set up four NSG units throughout country. Karnataka will get an ATF anti-terrorist squad that will have 600 fully trained army personnel, he said.

Chidambaram arrived today after his official arrival was adjourned many times in the last couple of days.

There was a showdown between Yeddyurappa and Chidambaram over the several postponements of the scheduled meeting with the state home ministry and the union ministry blaming each other over the issue.
Chidambaram was angry Yeddyurappa couldn't take time out to meet him.
