The XII science students of Ruparel College received a rude shock on Wednesday after they couldn't give their HSC board practical examination due to the non-teaching staff going on a strike.

The sudden strike by the non-teaching staff - peons and lab assistants - at one of Mumbai's premier colleges has left the students in the lurch with the HSC board exams just around the corner.

The students of the science faculty, who had arrived at the college on Wednesday to give their practical exams in mathematics, chemistry and physics, will now have to wait till a while to give their examinations.

The students weren't informed of the strike and had arrived at the college in the morning all set to give their exams but were informed by the Vice Principal of the strike.

According to some worried parents, the vice-principal has informed the students that the practical will now be conducted after February 16. This has left the parents and students very tense because the written HSC exams are starting on February 21.

The reason for the strike wasn't clear with Ruparel College principal remaining unavailable for comments.
