Kumar has been sacked by the school authorities, while an inquiry has been ordered against another teacher Anil Pathania, who was among the three teachers who were part of the trip, on the issue of beating up of Singh. "We are inquiring into the allegations made against another teacher Anil Pathania. Corporal punishment is totally unacceptable. If found guilty then he will also have to leave his job," School Vice Principal Anita Kashayap told reporters at Mohali.
All the facts are being verified and all aspects are being looked into, she added. Students who returned from the trip have also levelled allegations against the two teachers that they took away the money beyond Rs 500 which they were allowed to keep in their possession.
"Corporal punishment should not be allowed at any cost. I hope the school authorities will take strict action against the erring teachers by lodging criminal complaint against them," Barinder Singh, victim's father, said.
