After suffering innumerable glitches and receiving several complaints from students about the complicated process, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has sent 1,170 CDs to different colleges in the city, containing instructions on how to fill up their HSC exam forms, and has asked that the forms be filled up offline and kept ready. They say that as soon as the dates for the online submission are declared, college authorities can upload the forms, in order to avoid any glitches.
The authorities had begun accepting the examination forms online back in October 2013 on a trial basis. However, at the time, the students were left scratching their heads owing to the complicated procedure and the servers crashing on innumerable occasions.
Keeping in mind the problems students and authorities faced, the board decided to hand out instructions on CDs and distribute them to the colleges for the February 2014 examinations.
Laxmikant Pandey, secretary of the Mumbai division board, said, "The dates are yet to be declared to submit the exam forms for HSC students appearing in 2014. But we have sent 1,170 CDs to colleges and have instructed them on how to fill up the forms.
This has been done so that once the dates are announced; they can upload their details easily. Keeping students' details ready offline and uploading it later will not avoide pressure on the server and prevent any crashes."
Board officials said that the reason the dates had not yet been announced was because they were working on the server.u00a0
