Admission season finds them running from pillar to post, begging busy officers to sign their documents. Recently, the government decided to introduce a minimum academic qualification for the appointment of the SEO that of an HSC certificate. While approving the proposal, Minister of State for the General Administration Department (GAD) Prof Fauzia Khan recommended self-attestation of documents for the benefit of the students. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who heads the GAD, later approved this recommendation.

The state has now asked the additional chief secretary of the school education department, the principal secretary of higher and technical education department and the secretary of the medical education department to implement the decision.
