If you wish to escape the hustle-bustle of city life, head to Lemon Grass at Manas Resort, which is located bang in the middle of a lake. You can't get further from the grime and stress of the city than this. We dropped in on a weekend and found this beautiful and serene eatery almost empty.

The Lemon Grass restaurant at Manas Resort

Ambience: Lemon Grass is basically an open restaurant overlooking a small lake and offers the perfect view.

Thanks to the monsoon, the sitting area, out in the open, is temporarily not in use and one has to sit under the straw shades. There's a bar on one end and on the other side, there are cane tables and chairs. If you get bored, you can always check out the swimming fishes kept inside glass bowls.

We tried: They exclusively serve Thai food, including starters, salads, curries, fried rice and noodles, along with a range of cocktails and mocktails. For starters, the attendant recommended a spicy dish called Nam Prik Prow Kai (Rs 275) and for the main course, we opted for Veg Thai Noodle (Rs 195) and Chicken Thai Red Curry (Rs 300). The starter was served within ten minutes and was excellent. It was made from medium chicken cubes marinated with basil and Thai spices. It was spicy as well as slightly sour and was served with yummy peanut chutney. The Thai noodles were tossed with green and red capsicum, broccoli, onion, peanut and paneer but was way too sweet for us. We had to add chilli sauce to make it edible. The Chicken Thai Red Curry is a traditional curry made with a subtle blend of hot, salty, sweet and sour flavours and was served with steamed basmati rice. It was pungent but we loved it.

Service: The attendants were helpful and prompt. They were aware about Thai food as well as the method of preparation.

At: The Manas, Bhugaon, Mulshi, Pune-Paud Road.
Open: On all days, from 7 pm to 11.30 pm
Call: 22951379
