The deadline set by the Government expires on June 30 and it may be extended for another three months, Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said.

The Government had issued a notice six months ago for converting all the light commercial vehicles to CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).

"We will give another three months time which will be the final deadline," Lovely told the Assembly adding that converting the vehicles to CNG was necessary for protecting the environment.

Delhi has around 40,000 light commercial vehicles which run on either petrol or diesel.
