Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment and Pollution Control and Minorities Welfare N Mariam Pitchai died accident in a road near Perambalur this morning.
Pitchai was on his way to Chennai from Tiruchi to take oath as member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly when the accident occurred.
The body of Pitchai has been brought to Madurai.
Pitchai, who was the councilor of Tiruchi corporation, had won from the Madurai west constituency defeating former Transport Minister K.N.Nehru in the April 13 Assembly elections.
