According to the police, Nagpada based builder Ketan Katariya wanted to develop a plot in Panvel for which he needed money. One Sachin Allad had introduced him to tantrik, Ashok Mishra alias Baba saying that the tantrik had mystical powers and could make people rich.u00a0
After meeting him, Kataria was promised that he would make crores of rupees, only if he performed some poojas and havans. "The Baba (Mishra) told Katariya that he knew several builders who had gotten rich due to the poojas and havans that he had carried out. He demanded Rs 7 lakh from Katariya to perform the poojas, but did not carry out any pooja or havan. When Katariya inquired about it, they asked him to accompany them in his car to Igatpuri, and on the way killed him," said a police officer from Nagpada police station.
After killing Katariya on June 15, they dumped his body at an isolated place near the ghat and fled. "But, Katariya had told his wife that he was going with the Baba, whom he knew since the last six months. We managed to trace the Baba and arrested him," said the police officer.u00a0
