There is nothing unsavoury about this Chowk. It has variety of delectable desi street food, all under one roof
The problem with most food courts in India is that they are either too 'western' in their branding or have food from groups that are essentially, what can be called, mall chains. So at a typical food court apart from the usual find of pizzas and pastas, Chinese and Thai, if you do find chaat and other Indian food, it is from names that don't immediately strike a chord.
The Food Chowk at the DLF Mall in Saket is an attempt to change this trend. So, it boasts names that you have heard of before and epitomise the very best in that cuisine. Therefore, if you want kebabs, you can stop at Karim's or if it is rolls, pick them from the very popular Nizam's. The idea behind the food court, vice president, Arindam Kumar, said is to bring street food and specialty food all under one roof, "so that you don't have to go all over Delhi sampling it".
In keeping with the tradition of saadi dilli, you can alwaysu00a0u00a0 chew on Prince Chaat's famous pan. And how can you have a meal in the capital without eating a sinfully loaded parantha? Gali Paranthe Waali provides the authentic taste and sheer variety found in Chandni Chowk. Any student who has been in Delhi will identify with Deepaul's cold coffee and savoury south Indian snacks from Sagar Ratna.u00a0
u00a0Food Chowk also brings some of the best names in regional cuisine under one roof. The Hyderabadi biryani is a must-try as are the snacks from Maharashtra Star: the pao bhaaji (couples with kokum sharbat) can and should be had any time of the day. The chowk also has cuisine from Goa, Rajasthan and Awadh on offer; Bijoli Grill that offers authentic Bengali snacks should not be given a miss. If you come for dinner or lunch (Food Chowk is open from 11 am to 11 pm) and don't wish to roam around individual stalls, you can simply opt for Rajdhani's famous thaali.
In fact, with our hectic lives, we rarely find time to go seeking specialty food we have always heard of. Food Chowk solves that dilemma.
