A 34-year-old techie has filed a complaint against his team leader at the Pulakeshi Nagar police station for cheating him of Rs 6 lakh and threatening to commit suicide and blame him if he asked for his money back.

Calmon Kuriyan is a senior manager of banking and services in a leading software firm. Kuriyan who joined the company in 2006 was working under Suresh P Menon who was the then project manager.

Three years ago, Menon approached Kuriyan for urgent financial assistance for his US trip. He wanted money, which he promised to return within a month.

"Since he was my boss, I agreed to help him and gave him my debit card pin number," Kuriyan said.

The complainant Calmon Kuriyan has urged the Pulakeshi Nagar police to arrest Menon at the earliest, as he is planning to fly abroad to avoid payments

Menon withdrew Rs 6.7 lakh on different dates,u00a0 and after his arrival Kuriyan contacted him, asking him to return the amount.

Menon told Kuriyan there will be a delay in the payment and agreed to pay the interest amount until he returned the principal amount.

After paying the interest amount for a few months, Menon started giving Kuriyan lame excuses.

When Kuriyan started demanding his money back, Menon said that he will commit suicide and mention Kuriyan's name as a reason behind the suicide.

Kuriyan brought this to the notice of the management, following which Menon gave him a cheque of Rs 7.1 lakh (including the interest amount), which bounced, as Menon had already asked his bank to stop payment.

He issued a legal notice to Menon in July, following which Menon threatened that he would kill Kuriyan and his family members, as he had connections with rowdy elements.

Kuriyan brought this to the notice of the management once again, who upon enquiry revealed that Menon had taken loans from many of his other juniors, amounting to several lakhs.

"They had not complained against him since he was their boss," added Kuriyan. He has asked the police to arrest Menon at the earliest, as he is planning to fly abroad to avoid payments.

"There is no such complaint filed against me and I will take legal action if this has been published, said Menon.

When contacted officials from Pulakeshi Nagar police station remained unavailable for comment.
