Telangana supporters yesterday disrupted screening of the movie 'Komaram Puli', starring Chiranjeevi's younger brother Pavan Kalyan, at several theatres across Andhra Pradesh including Hyderabad because of its title.

The producers of the film later conceded the demand of the activists and announced change in the movie's name.

"The title of the movie 'Komaram Puli' hurt sentiments of the people here as 'Komaram' is the surname of Komaram Bheem, a tribal leader from Adilabad district," B Suman, a leader of the students' wing of TRS, said.

Telangana supporters took offence at the movie title and demanded producers change the name.

Bheem had fought against the Nizam's rule in 1930s and sacrificed his life for the cause.

Suman and other leaders of Osmania University students' Joint Action Committee (JAC) had threatened to disrupt the screening of the movie if the word 'Komaram' was not removed from the title.

Conceding the demand of the Telangana supporters, the film's producers C Kalyan and S Ramesh Babu announced that the word 'Komaram' would be dropped. The title of the movie is now 'Puli' (tiger).

The Telangana supporters have been angry with Chiranjeevi as his Praja Rajyam Party reversed its support for statehood for Telangana and stood for united Andhra Pradesh.
