A tempo traveller carrying employees of a call entre in Magarpatta, Hadapsar, rammed into a rickshaw injuring its driver and passenger. The driver sustained head injuries and the passenger was suffering from severe chest pain. The accident occurred near MiD DAY office on the Jan Mohammad Street, Cantonment at 11.25 pm yesterday.
The Cantonment police arrested the tempo driver Satish Unmulgi (21) of Hadapsar under charges of rash driving.
The rickshaw driver Iqbal Amir Shaikh (58) of 1128 Bhawani Peth and a passenger Rizwan Ahmad Maula (48) hailing from Batalkati, Uttar Pradesh, were sent to the Sassoon General Hospital for treatment. The Cantonment police said that the tempo traveller (MH-12/CT-7822) was moving at high speed, that too, on the wrong side of the road and hit the rickshaw. Unmulgi was booked under section 304 (causing injury by accident) of the IPC in the early hours today.
