State board to start new feature on its website, where details of schools, facilities and other claims can be verified by parents
Planning to enroll your child into a fancy school next year but can't decide between the options available? Then this news might be of interest to you.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is soon coming up with a new feature on its website that would not only give you information about schools, but also will help you select the right one.
Rating schools
MSBSHE covers nearly 19,500 schools in the state which are in the process of being inspected and rated
by the body. After the inspection, details of the school, their teaching methods, infrastructure would be put up on the board's website.
Ujjwala Patil, chairperson of MSBSHSE, said parents would especially benefit as it would help them to know if the claims made by the schools are indeed true.
"We tried this last year as well but it didn't work out. This year we hope to complete this task before the next academic year begins. Here parents can log on to the website and know about the facilities in the schools such as playgrounds, toilets, canteens, besides the latest technology being used by them and how efficient their teachers are," Patil said.
Besides rating the schools, teachers would be rated as well. She said the website would help parents choose the right school, based on what they want for their child.
"It might also help Parents Teachers Associations take up and solve certain issues," she added. The schools would be rated in five categories from A to E.
However, this would be up for continuous review either through surprise checks or through complaints or information passed on by parents.
