On Tuesday night, thieves struck Astha dry fruits store located at Jaymala mansion building, Evershine Nagaru00a0at Malad (West) and made good with coins worthu00a0Rs 20,000, a few sweet boxes and the CCTV footage.
According to the Bangur Nagar police, the owner of the store Bharat Mulchand Muleva had shut shop on Tuesday around 10.30 pm. On Wednesday morning, a delivery man reached the store and found the lock of the shutter broken and immediately informed Muleva, who in turn informed the authorities.
Muleva said that his store has been a target for thieves and in the past three months, thieves had struck his store twice and on one occasion they were caught red-handed following which Muleva installed CCTV cameras inside his store to protect it from future crimes.
Muleva said, "The delivery man informed me of the incident. They have also taken away the CCTV DVR with them."
A police officer from Bangur Nagar police station said, "We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. It is not clear how many people were involved in the crime. The shop was burgled in the past also. We are taking fingerprints from the scene of the crime to help us crack the case."
