Three separate incidents of chain snatching took place in city in a span of 24 hours, wherein the total worth of gold chains robbed was pegged at Rs 2 lakh.
The first incident occurred in Patwardhan society lane in Yerawada on Saturday evening around 7.30 pm after chain-snatchers targeted 85-year-old Madhuri Murlidhar Potnis.
She lodged an FIR at the Kothrud police station against two unidentified men, who made away with her gold chain worth Rs 80,000 on a motorcycle. Potnis was on her way home when the incident occured.
The second chain snatching occurred on Baner Road on Sunday around 5.45 pm, when 41-year-old Baner resident Harini Phulikunta was on her way to Chaturshrungi temple with her son. She said a motorcycle-borne thief snatched her chain worth Rs 67,500 near the Pan Card Club. She then approached the Chaturshrungi police station after the incident.
Similarly, a case was lodged against unidentified persons at the Hinjewadi police station on Sunday evening for robbing 47-year-old Hemangi Joshi, a resident of Mulund in Mumbai, on the Pune-Mumbai highway. Joshi claimed the robbers made away with her gold chain worth Rs 50,000. u00a0
