has surfaced.
Three policemen attached to the Govindpuri police station in south Delhi wrote a new chapter in police atrocities by beating and detaining a 23-year-old private firm employee of the same area allegedly at the instance of his employer who purportedly paid them for the heinous act.
Subhash used to work in a button factory owned by one Gauri Shankar in Govindpuri. A few months ago, Subhash had fallen out of favour of his employer and was sacked. When Subhash went to ask for his dues on Saturday, Gauri Shankar allegedly abused him and threatened him with dire consequences. "He refused to give me any reason for not releasing Rs 40,000 dues," Subhash alleged.
Following the scuffle, Gauri Shankar sacked Subhash with immediate effect and called up the police.u00a0
"He told the police that I had stolen goods from his shop. The cops - Sewa Ram Meena, Hari Singh and Sehi Ram - took me to the police station. Gauri Shankar knows all the three cops. My repeated pleas that I am innocence fell on deaf ears," the 23-year-old resident of Govindpuri told MiD DAY.
"They took me to the police station and did not make a diary entry of my detention, leave alone registering an FIR. And then started endless hours of torture. They beat me up badly with tyre tubes and lathis," he alleged.
The cops let him go late on Sunday evening after about 48 hours of alleged illegal detention.
"I asked them to call my in-laws but they didn't allow me to use my mobile phone. Some how my in-laws got the information and then they approached the cops. I was released and was taken immediately to AIIMS trauma centre for treatment. There are marks of torture all over my body. I was crying out of pain," Subhash added.
Marks of misery: Subhash was flogged with tyre tubes and lathis by
the cops. His relatives got him freed. Pics/Mid dayOne of Subhash's relatives called the PCR to complain against the alleged police atrocities.
"There were blue marks of torture all over his body. I registered a complaint against the accused cop," said Sandeep Srivastav, relative of the victim.
The cops denied knowledge of such incident but assured action against anybody found guilty.
Subhash, however, claimed that he had seen the three accused cops having liquor with Gauri Shankar in the past. " I remember the faces of all the accused cops," he added.
They also asked a son to have sex with her mother Mukesh Jha (45), who lives in Mayapuri with his wife Pooja (30) and two sons Raju (12) and Ramesh (10), learnt on May 21 that his boys had been detained by the police on charges of theft (all names changed to protect identity). The husband and wife rushed to the local police station but failed to find the boys.
When they reached home, they found a male and female cop ransacking the place. When they objected and asked about their sons, the cops started hitting them.
They were taken to the Rajouri Garden police post where they found their sons. The male and female police officers there started flogging them and probed about the theft of certain items from a car. The torture ended at midnight. But only the parents were allowed to go. The children were kept in detention.
The husband and wife were asked to come back the next morning at 10. But when they showed up the policemen asked them to go back and return at 4 pm. But suddenly at around 2 pm on May 22, the cops reached their house and took them to the police post.
One of the constables took Jha's wife and younger son out of the room and locked it from the inside. Then they started questioning them about the stolen goods. When the mother and son denied all charges, the constable asked the mother to strip in front of her son. When she refused the constable started beating her and forced her to strip.
Then the cops asked her to have sex with her son. Both of them started crying. Then one of the constables asked Jha's wife to have sex with him instead. The family had complained to the police commissioner about the incident.
The Other Side"I don't know about any such incident, but if our men have committed such a crime then they will not be spared," said a senior police officer.
Gauri Shankar refused to comment, saying he had only complained to the police about a theft committed by Subhash.
