The deceased, identified as Ramdas Baburao Gorade (45), Eknath Rajaram Gorade (70) and Baban Baburao Yewale (70), residents of Shirur Taluk.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place at 7.30 pm, when Gorade and his relatives were returning after attending a house warming ceremony at Shikrapur. Survivors of the accident said that the tragedy took place after the rod attached to steering wheel broke and tempo fell into the well.
Laxmi Thakkar, who suffered injuries in the mishap and has been admitted to Vighnaharta hospital in Shirur.u00a0Lying on her hospital bed, Thakkar said, "We heard a loud thud and when we opened our eyes, we realised that we had fallen into the well.u00a0
As it was dark the villagers had to struggle to help us out. All of us were taken out of the well with the help of rope." Shirur Tehsildar, Atul Mhetre, said, "The injured have been shifted to hospitals in Shikrapur and the city "
