Hotels are passe. With life moving to the fast lane, paid sex has moved to trains and buses, serving pleasure to busy executives and businessmen on the move.
We checked out the trend over the last week, and found that thrills indeed are coming on wheels.
On Sunday, for instance, two
MiD DAY reporters met a 32-year-old Russian woman at the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, who agreed to come on the next day's Rajdhani at Rs 10,000 a night (watch video and read full text of the conversation at
www.mid-day.com/delhi).
"We were getting requests from traders and working professionals who travel a lot to provide for a night of pleasure on buses or train, especially when they are returning from a conference or meeting," said Vinod Kumar, an agent from Delhi's Exotic Services. "They intentionally avoid air travel since it is too short. And they avoid staying back in a hotel because in that time they can travel and save time."
Sex on the train or a quickie on the bus also held a strange, forbidden thrill for his clients, said Kumar. He said paid sex on train happened most widely on the Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bhopal and Delhi-Patna sectors.
For a top-end girl, he quoted Rs 30,000 a night on Rajdhani to Mumbai, exclusive of train fares.
He said the client in such cases had to pay to three nights and a return ticket in a two-berth, first AC 'honeymoon' coupe, which added up to about Rs 1 lakh.
"You can have full, uninterrupted intercourse in train coupe, whereas in buses it is understandably a quickie," said agent Madan K, who supplies girls to passengers both at the inter-state bus termini at Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar and Kashmere Gate, as well as the main railway stations. He provides both Indian women and those from Russia, east Europe and far-east Asia.
A senior railway official, requesting anonymity, said he had heard about such a thing going on especially on upper-crust trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi. "There has not been an inquiry because no formal complaint has ever been lodged," he said.
Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railways, Rajeev Saxena refused to comment, saying "he would like to talk about it later."
A
MiD DAY reporter first encountered the trend in November last year on a Delhi-bound Shatabdi Express from Bhopal. A woman in her mid-thirties, travelling without luggage, came and sat beside a middle-aged executive at Agra station. Throwing a shawl around themselves, they quickly got sexual, as a guy who looked like an agent stood guard a distance away.
"We see this woman with the pimp quite often. He accompanies her every time and during the journey different men sit with her," one of the pantry boys had said. "We have seen more explicit stuff. Passengers sometimes got into the toilet with these women, who are regulars. The good part is we get a lot of tips." In 2007, a TV sting had exposed the case of call girls being served to politicians on Rajdhani and Sampoorn Kranti Express on the Patna-Delhi route. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had been quoted saying that it was difficult to prevent such rackets as "you cannot ask every passenger who they are and what are their relations are with the person they are travelling with." The service seems to have been extended to include young, busy executives.
