Officials from the Kalina Forensic Laboratory carried out a fresh DNA test on the tissue and found that it belonged to Jiah Khan, suggesting that she may have committed suicide

The case of actress Jiah Khan's death took another turn after forensic report from the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) said that the tissue found under her nails, belonged to none other than the actress herself.

The MiD DAY front page report that was carried on November 9, 2013

Experts at FSL received nail clippings from Jiah's right and left hands after she was found hanging in her Juhu flat on June 3. The autopsy was conducted at JJ Post Mortem Centre on June 4, and subsequently the samples were sent for testing on June 5 to FSL. In their report dated August 16, the experts pointed out that they had found bloodstains on the nail samples from both hands. Human tissue matter was also detected.

According to reliable sources within Kalina FSL, the new report will be submitted to Juhu police station within a few days. "We found human tissue from below her fingernails on both her hands and that tissue belongs to Jiah. We came to know that the person who was doing the post-mortem of Jiah was new and soon the media carried reports of the tissue being found. We then carried out a DNA test on it again and found that the tissue belonged to her," said the source.

Earlier on November 9, MiD DAY had reported how an expert suggested that the tissue and other findings suggested that Jiah's death was a ‘homicidal hanging (‘Forensic expert suggests ‘homicidal hanging' could have killed Jiah Khan'). The report also said that alcohol levels found in her body suggested incapacitation to some extent, indicating further that another person may have hanged her.

However, the new FSL report, which was made after investigating from all angles, states that Jiah may have committed suicide, after all. When MiD DAY approached Senior Inspector Arun Bhagat from Juhu police station, he said he had not received any report from Kalina FSL as of date. u00a0
