Theatre can be as enjoyable as movies and TV serials. That's what Swatantra Theatre Group, Pune's only Hindi theatre group believes in and wants others to believe in too.
Founded by theatre director Abhijeet Choudhry on the Independence Day three years ago, the group boasts of more than 35 members now. According to Dhanashree Heblikar, a member, the sole objective of theu00a0 group is to save theatre. "People nowadays are more attracted to TV and cinema. But we promote live acting, which is more fun," he says.
The group recently performed a political satire 'Dhool Mein Lipta Sach' in the city. Besides, they had also organised Drama Therapy, a session that included games, and improvised acts, to de-stress Puneites affected by the economic slowdown.
Also, the group conducts theatre workshops for children, which they claim increases their confidence.
