Too many questions

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was a trending topic after nearly 62 MLAs wrote to the state party chief complaining about his style of functioning. Faking News tweeted: ‘Chavan could be removed as he is not helping leaders accused of scams.' Actor Kabir Bedi added: ‘Chavan is an honest man. That's why "allies" and many Congress MLAs are determined to oust him.' In the words of Vidyut: ‘He is going to be axed for being "too restrictive'. Time to take a good hard look at who wants him gone.' Ashoke Pandit tweeted: ‘Chavan has stopped the loot which was going on in Maharashtra, hence the NCP is angry.' And from someone using the handle KangressPR: ‘Congress issues Prithviraj Chavan a show cause notice after widespread allegations of honesty against him by party members.'

The other party
Also clogging timelines was the BJP, for a variety of reasons including the party's stand on Foreign Direct Investment. Suryanarayan Ganesh tweeted: ‘How ironic that BJP opposes FDI in multi-brand retail, but Narendra Modi is out in Japan grovelling for FDI in almost anything.' Vineeth Jose echoed that thought: ‘Modi on foreign tour for FDI, while BJP opposes it in parliament. Yes, they will win 2014 elections for sure.' Jiten Gajaria jumped in with this comment: ‘On the one hand, Congress gives us a foreign minister who can't remember his speech. On the other, BJP gives a CM who charms Japan with his vision.'

Another crisis
Thousands of people fled their homes in Kokrajhar, Assam, after fighting that killed at least 19, wounded many more and left villages in flames. A certain Nitin Gokhale tweeted: ‘For those outraging over lack of adequate coverage of Kokrajhar incidents, media teams have been attacked, threatened and told to keep away!'

The last word
From journalist Barkha Dutt: ‘The MLAs ranting against Prithviraj Chavan are mostly supporters of Ashok Chavan and Vilasrao Deshmukh. Go figure.
