Police Commissioner BK Gupta, in a letter written to his men, has thanked them for their peaceful handling of the movement
The 13-day anti-corruption protest led by social activist Anna Hazare is finally over and has given a reason to be proud to many, including none other than Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta. The top cop is so happy with his men's peaceful handling of the protest that he wrote a letter to his officials, to thank them for their good work.
"I congratulate the Delhi Police personnel deployed for the Anna Hazare Movement. Because of them, the 13-day movement of Shri Hazare had been peaceful. I thank my officials for maintaining law and order situation across the Capital," stated the Commissioner in the letter, of which MiD DAY has a copy.
No to lathicharge
The top cop also praised the officials for not resorting to lathicharge on the mob to bring them under control.
"The officials know that during these 13 days, many times the mob went on a rampage. But such situations were dealt with without any use of force. The angered mob tried to clash with the police personnel at many places across the Capital, but the police dealt with them patiently," said Gupta in the letter.
He also mentioned about the number of traffic rules' violation that took place during this time. "The Police department has set at example of patience, duty and responsibility. Where there was a need, violators were challaned by our officials," he said.
'Well done'
"Delhi Police have been praised by all for the extraordinary work. The department has set an example for other forces. I congratulate you for your work and hope you will be prepared for the upcoming challenges, and to set a new face value before the public," said Gupta.
