If the plan set afoot by the city police materialises soon, suburbanites will soon have respite from the quotidian traffic jams en-route to the city.

Suburban areas like Sinhagad Road, Kondhwa, Hinjewadi fall under the jurisdiction of the rural police who do not have a separate traffic division to address problems of congestion. So, to eschew the rigmarole of coordinating with the rural police, their city counterparts will soon issue a notification to bring suburbs under their jurisdiction.u00a0

"A notification will soon be issued regarding inclusion of urban city areas falling under the rural police jurisdiction into the city police limits. This will help us resolve major traffic issues in important areas like Sinhagad Road, Hinjewadi, among others. Till the time the notification comes, co-ordination between the two police departments have to be worked out," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil.

"Especially, for the Sinhagad Road, we had offered support to the rural police. But somehow it did not work out. In the Talawade area near Hinjewadi, co-ordination between the city and rural police worked out. We prepared a report for improvement in the area which when implemented eased traffic considerably."
